There’s no doubt as a nation we've endured a lot of change and stress to our lives.  Unfortunately, stress can have a great impact on the digestive system and our skin health as these two systems are very closely connected.

Our digestive system absorbs nutrients and water from food, and eliminates toxins, hormones and waste products.

Signs that our digestive system is under duress include adverse symptoms such as:

  • Bloating

  • Nausea

  • Cramping

  • Flatulence

  • Diarrhoea or and constipation

  • Acid reflux or heartburn

  • Stomach pain and cramping

So, how are these symptoms linked to our skin?

Well, these symptoms are signs that our digestion is sluggish or impaired. When we are sluggish toxins accumulate in the blood and more often than not detoxify through the skin and manifest visually as:

  • Congestion

  • Acne

  • Millais

  • Dullness

  • Dryness and Flakiness

  • Redness and or uneven skin-tone

How can we combat these issues?

Internally: adopting a natural, whole foods diet and avoiding excessive snacking can help support our digestive system. Sometimes, it needs some help to get started and our experience is that a a digestive support supplement such as Digestive Enzymes, Ginger, Meadowsweet and or Dandelion can aid in recovery.

Externally: Adding to our skin routine a non- abrasive exfoliator like the Dermavidual’s Peeling Cream will help us manually remove impurities and remove scales that have built up on the outside layer of our skin. With routine use, we will find our skin will look brighter, fresher and healthier.
